On a daily basis, I use formative assessments.More than likely, my students will use a nonverbal to show their understanding on a subject. For instance, I will ask students to give me thumbs-up, thumbs-down or sideways (unsure).Students may also rate or show their understanding of a lesson by giving me a 1 through 5 with their fingers, 1 being not good and 5 being great.
We have many think, pair share moments throughout each day. This allows me to listen to student conversations and have them discuss aloud.Group discussions give me insight to formative assessments, too.
I have included an Interactive Social Studies Notebook that I use often as a formative assessment.Venn Diagrams, rough drafts, notes, to answering Essential Questions are done within the notebook.
Class and individual K-W-L Charts are used throughout the school year in my classroom. K-W-L Charts can also be found in my artifacts tab. We also love graphic organizers and foldables! The below picture is a foldable showing their knowledge of the 6 Traits of Writing.
